The Pakistan captain Babar Azam is set to play under the captaincy of the wicket-keeper batsman Mohammad Rizwan in the upcoming edition of the Global T20 Canada.
Both of the Pakistani openers will represent Vancouver Knights in the GT20 Canada.
It will be the fourth edition of the tournament and Knights have won the inaugural edition of the league. Under the captaincy of Rizwan, the team will look to replicate the heroics in the forthcoming edition of the league.
Rizwan isn’t new to the role as he bags the massive experience of captaincy. In 2021 he guided the Pakistan Super League (PSL) franchise Multan Sultans to its maiden title when in the first half of the tournament they were stationed at bottom of the table.
In 2024, he became the first captain in the history of the PSL to play 4 consecutive finals albeit he lifted the trophy only once as of now.
He also captained the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK) side in the domestic competition and won several trophies with the team.
The 32-year-old also carries the experience of captaining the Pakistan side and also have served as the vice-captain in previous years.

The first season of this edition was played in 2018. With time, the tournament has gardened massive attention and like last year the Pakistani players will light up the cricket stage in the upcoming edition as well.
In the last edition, Rizwan scored 190 runs for Knights in 5 matches at a strike rate of 118. Nevertheless, the right-handed batsman will be hoping to lead from front this side as he will be captaining the side this time.
Besides Babar and Rizwan, Asif Ali, Mohammad Amir, Iftikhar Ahmed, Shaheen Shah Afridi, and Mohammad Nawaz will feature in the tournament as well.
Afridi, the left-arm pacer, pulled out his contract with Welsh Fire for the Hundred to play the GT20 Canada.
Rizwan, Babar, Amir,and Asif will represent Knight whereas Shaheen and Nawaz will don the jersey of Toronto Nationals, and Iftikhar will join Bangla Tigers Mississauga.
The tournament will kick start from 25th July and will culminate on August 11. All the matches will be played at TD Cricket Arena in Brampton. A total of six teams will feature in the league.
