The 44th game of the T20 World Cup will be played between Australia and Bangladesh on 21st June at North Sound.
Team overview:
Australia’s quest to collect all the ICC Trophies is unstoppable and now they will face Bangladesh to inch steps closer to attain the T20 World Cup.
Australia’s journey to the Super Eight was easy and smooth. They dominated every side they faced, even England. Although they had some fielding errors against Scotland the result was meaningless for the side but exact opposite for the opposition and England.
Their top order is striking over 140 with the allrounder Marcus Stoinis has a towering strike rate of 190.24. Mitchell Marsh and Glenn Maxwell are yet to make waves in this World Cup if they follow the foot-step of the top-order, it will become an intimidating batting order.
The bowling lineup is sorted out with the pacers and Adam Zampa has been top-notch, hitting the immaculate line and length consistently.
Travis Head will be the key player for the Australia side as he has been front and centre of his side’s success for instance the knock in the final of the ODI World Cup 2023 and World Test Championship.
Head has upgraded his game against spin as during the game against England he tonked Moeen Ali and Will Jacks in the powerplay. Bangladesh have a great bunch of pacers but will the spinners be able to handle Head’s carnage? The exciting challenge for Bengal spinners awaits!
Talking about Bangladesh they made into the Super Eight after securing a hard-fought win against Sri Lanka and Netherlands. They narrowly missed out the chance of beating South Africa and almost lost against Nepal.
Nevertheless their first challenge in the Super Eights is to beat Australia, a tough one, right? Bangladesh batting performance has been dismal in this World Cup so far. Only Shakib-al-Hasan has breached the mark of fifty and the highest strike rate is 125.0 by Towhid Hridoy.
So, the batting department will have to step-up if the side wants to put up a fight against the mighty Australia.
Australia bag experience of playing the bowling lineup of Bangladesh apart from Rishad Hossain. Hossain has been making headlines in this World Cup so far as he has taken 7 wickets at 14.57 and an economy of 6.80.
So, can Rishad pose a threat to the Australian batter? But Australia have fared well against the wrist spinner as they strike at 144 against the spin but still it will be a great contest between the in-form spinners and the batting lineup!
Pitch and weather report:
The North Sound pitch has been suitable for batsmen and a high-scoring game is expected. The breeze will be the key factor. Although there are chances of rain but nothing too severe.
Predictions:
Australia are hot favourites to win the game and will continue their unbeaten streak at the T20 World Cup against Bangladesh.
Head-to-head record:
Outside the World Cups, Bangladesh have defeated Australia in 4 encounters out of the 10 games where they faced each other, whereas Australia have won 6!
