Bangladesh and India will take on each other in the second T20i of the ongoing series. The match will be played at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi.
Match preview:
The Indian team steamrolled Bangladesh in the 1st T20 of the series despite playing an inexperienced side. India was, of course, favourites to win the game but the match showed that Bangladesh needed to upgrade its game in the shortest format of the game.
India carried the aggressive approach set by the former captain, Rohit Sharma. Apart from Nitish Kumar, the rest of the batting lineup strike above 150.
Moreover, their playing XI had more than 8 bowling options that SuryaKumar labelled as “happy headache”
Arshdeep Singh was pick of the bowlers for India in the 1st T20 of the series, picking up 3 wickets in his quota of 3.5 overs.
But the pitch of the said stadium, Arshdeep said he did not “feel like checking the wickets”
“We [Punjab Kings] did not play here this IPL, but after seeing the scores, I did not feel like checking the wicket (laughs). But yeah, we will come tomorrow and see what could be a good plan here. And of course, the captain and the coach will check the wicket and share their plan.”India left-arm seamer Arshdeep Singh on the pitch in Delhi
Hardik Pandya was another positive for India, his batting was top-class and also chipped in with his bowling, proving to be a vital cog for his side.
India and Suray will hope his side continue this performance and would be hopeful to clinch the series after winning today’s clash.
Talking about the Bangladesh team, their performance was below-par, especially with the bat. The skipper Najmul Hossain Shanto also played with a cautious approach, maybe because his side had lost early wickets but still the skipper should lead by example in the second T20 of the game.
Also, Mahmudullah, will look to make a mark as he has announced retirement from the T20 format. He will retire as the most capped T20 player for Bangladesh. The side will look to win the series for their retiring hero!
Pitch and weather report:
The weather will be clear with less chances of dew.
Talking about pitch, the wicket supports mostly batters in this ground. In 8 out of 10 innings at this venue in the IPL 2024, the 200-run mark was breached. So, an exciting and high-scoring match is expected. The bowlers will have to toil hard to take the wickets, clearly replicating Arshdeep’s statement of not “looking at the wicket”.
Head-to-head record:
A total of 15 matches have been played between the two sides. In 14 games, India have been successful while Bangladesh could only win only one game.
Predictions:
Given how they performed in the first T20 of the series, India are favourites to win the second game of the series as well.
