The three-match T20I series between Bangladesh and Pakistan is scheduled to start from July 20, for which Bangladesh have announced their same squad without any change. Recently Bangladesh won the T20 series against Sri Lanka. If anything, that series would be a major boost for the Bengal Tigers moving towards the home series against Pakistan.
Bangladesh have played a below par cricket since the start of the 2025 as they had lost to UAE and Pakistan in consecutive T20 series. Now Bangladesh have an ideal chance to rebuild their T20 side and take revenge from Pakistan as the men in green were whitewashed in three-match T20 series earlier this year.
The upcoming series against Pakistan is being hosted by Bangladesh. All matches will be played at the Shere Bangla National Stadium on July 20, 22 and 24. All three are night matches. The Pakistan team has already arrived in Dhaka.
The Bangladesh squad reached Dhaka on Thursday, after defeating Sri Lanka by eight wickets in Colombo to level the series from 1-0 and then winning it. It was their first series win in Sri Lanka and from the recently concluded tour as well as the side was handed defeat in Test and ODI series.
Litton Das is indeed the first Bangladeshi captain who won two international T20 series. Bangladesh won a 3-0 series win against West Indies last December, also under his leadership.
Tanzid Hasan, Litton, Towhid Hridoy and Shamim Hossain are in-form batters in the squad, all performing well against Sri Lanka. Off-spinner Mahedi Hasan amazingly took 4 wickets while giving only 11 runs in the third T20, whereas Rishad Hossain and Mustafizur Rahman did great bowling with economy rates of less than six an over. So the board is satisfied with the performance of the current T20 squad, they don’t want to change or add any other player.
BCB’s Chairman of Cricket Operations, Najmul Abedeen Fahim, explained that the board wants to rely on the same squad because we prefer consistency.
“It’s a different matter if changes are absolutely necessary, but till the World Cup, we want consistency and to avoid unnecessary experimentation,” Fahim stated.
“It’s important to have stability in the squad.”
Earlier this year, in May-June, the T20 series was played between Pakistan and Bangladesh in Lahore, which was solely won by Pakistan 3-0. Pakistan is having a strong win record of T20s against Bangladesh, winning 19 of the 22 games.
Bangladesh should be well aware of pitch conditions, as heavy rain spells happened in Dhaka and still the monsoon rains continue, as Dhaka receives mostly rains between May and September.
