The sixth encounter of the ongoing T20 World Cup is scheduled between England and Scotland. Both of the teams will meet each other on 4th of June at Kensington Oval in Bridgetown, Barbados.
England and Scotland are placed in Group B among Oman, Australia, and Namibia. Both of the sides will put every effort to claim those two points which will help their way to the Super 8 stage of the tournament.
Team Overview:
England:
The defending champions England is undoubtedly a strong opposition having a power-packed batting unit and fearsome bowling department.
Although they endured a woeful campaign in the ODI World Cup 2023 as they could only win three games out of nine.
Nevertheless, the recent series victory over the 2022 T20 World Cup finalist, Pakistan, has provided enough with ample confidence and the captain Jos Buttler regained his form as well.
England has a power-packed batting order with Phil Salt and Will Jacks are in red-hot form. The players were on song in the IPL as well for their respective sides.
The comeback of Jofra Archer has lifted-up the confidence of the already cogent bowling lineup in the name of Mark Wood, Chris Jordan, Sam Curran, and Reece Topley.
England would be expecting a lot from the young sensation Harry Brook to swing the bat all round the park and Jofra to rattle the stumps of the Scotland’s batters.
Scotland:
Scotland are gearing up for their third appearance in the T20 World Cup after breezing through the European Qualifiers.
They won all of their qualifying games stamping their authority and cementing their place in the World Cup alongside Ireland.
Although Engalnds are hot-favourite to win, the Scotland side is full of talented and exceptional players and of course given the unpredictability of this game, anything can happen, right?
Scotland will be relying on Chris Sole and Brandon McMullen as these two showed dominating performance in the ICC ODI World Cup Qualifiers last year.
Sole can swing the ball well while McMullen is a clean striker of the ball. To duck the likes of Jofra and Wood, Scotland will be relying on George Munsey and Charlie Tear.
And the spinner mysterio, Mark Watt will have to perform if Scotland wants to cross the winning line. Although Scotland was defeated in a triangular series with Netherlands and Irealnd and a 55-run loss against Afghanistan in warm-ups, the side has the potential to etch their name in the annals of history.
Head-to-Head:
Both England and Scotland have not faced each other in the T20is as yet.
Pitch and Weather report:
The Pitch at Bridgetown is famous for its pace which means it has plenty to offer to both batsmen and fast bowling. The average 1st innings at this ground stands at 156 in T20Is. Talking about the weather, there are 70% chances of rain during the game.
Predictions:
The reigning champions will win this encounter as their team is the form and have a strong team combination both in terms of batting and bowling.
