India and South Africa will face each other in the second T20 of the ongoing series on 10th November at Gqeberha
Match preview:
India are having a dream run ever since they won the T20 World Cup 2024 earlier this year. Currently, they are now on 11-mach win streak in the T20is and of course they would like to stretch it far.
A lot had changed India after the T20 World Cup, their main players like Sharma and Kohli announced retirement from the T20 after the tournament but the team’s transition with SuryaKumar Yadav leading the side has been seamless and smooth.
India has played 23 T20is this year and they have won 22 out of those. The only T20 loss came against Zimbabwe.
Sanju Samson was the keyplayer for India as he scored a knock of 107 runs in the first T20. Besides him, all eyes will be on Arshdeep Singh, the way he has established himself as a keybowler for India in the white-ball cricket is impressive and amazing to say the least.
The upcoming match will also provide India with an opportunity to continue their historic T20i run against South Africa in South Africa. As of now, they have won seven games there and lost only three.
Moreover, Hardik Pandya will have a unique opportunity in this game as he can leapfrog Arshdeep, Bumrah, and Bhuvneshwar to become India’s all-time T20I wicket-takers list.
Talking about South Africa, they have not been at their absolute best after the T20 World Cup 2024. They lost to West Indies, tied a series with Ireland, lost to Afghanistan, and now struggling against India as well. If anything, they would be eager to make a comeback and win some games.
One of the worrying factors is the form of Aiden Markram as he is yet to find his groove. Nevertheless, as per Gerald Coetzee, South Africa has lots of talent and the team is building and shaping up for the T20 World Cup,2026.
“We were just in the final of a T20 World Cup. Now is a new team. There is a World Cup coming up the year after, so we need new blood. There is plenty of talent, we’ve seen that. It’s just the boys need experience, need to sharpen their skills and we’ll be good to go.”
Gerald Coetzee isn’t thinking too much about South Africa’s recent loss of form
