Lahore Qalandars announces their captain for Global T20 League

The inaugural season of the Global T20 League is set to begin in Guyana on November 26, organized by Cricket West Indies. Featuring five teams from different countries, this innovative tournament will include a total of 11 games played in a round-robin format, culminating in a final between the top two teams.

Teams representing leagues like the PSL, BPL, Big Bash, CPL, and T20 Blast will compete against each other. In anticipation, Lahore Qalandars have named Carlos Brathwaite as their captain for the much-awaited tournament.

Brathwaite has been a cornerstone of the Lahore Qalandars, known for his all-round skills and tactical acumen. His familiarity with Guyana’s conditions, stemming from his Caribbean roots, gives the team a significant advantage.

Sameen Rana, owner of the Qalandars, expressed his excitement over Brathwaite’s appointment, stating, “Carlos has been a vital part of the Qalandars family. His leadership, understanding of Guyana’s conditions, and connection with the team make him the ideal choice to lead us in this historic tournament.”

Darren Gough, head coach of the team, shared similar sentiments: “Carlos is not only a phenomenal cricketer but also a natural leader. His mentorship and tactical skills will be invaluable as we aim for success in the Global T20 League.”

Reflecting on the opportunity, Brathwaite said, “It’s an absolute honor to lead the Lahore Qalandars. I’ve built incredible relationships within this team, and I’m ready to take on this challenge. Knowing the conditions in Guyana, I am confident we can deliver strong performances and make our mark in the tournament.”

The tournament’s opening match will take place on November 27 in Guyana, where the two-time PSL champions Lahore Qalandars will face off against the Guyana Amazon Warriors.
