Mohammad Huraira will lead the Pakistan Shaheens as a captain for their forthcoming series against Sri Lanka ‘A’. Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium has been selected as the venue for matches. The series will take place from November 11 to 29, including two four-day games and three 50-over matches.
Muhammad Huraira, aged 22-years, has impressive statistics, a total of 3,310 runs in 40 first-class matches, featuring eight centuries and 14 half-centuries. He has made 632 runs in 25 matches, with one century and one half-century in the List-A Cricket
The squads for both formats have been selected by the Men’s National Selection Committee. Mohammad Wasim Jnr and Khurram Shahzad have made a successful return to competitive cricket, having participated in the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy after completing their practice sessions at the National Cricket Academy, and are now included in the squad as fast bowlers.
Hussain Talat is the only international player who is included in the white-ball squad. New players include Muhammad Ghazi Ghori and Ahmed Safi Abdullah both received their first call-ups to play in the Pakistan Shaheens.
Several players who participated in the ACC Men’s Emerging Teams Asia Cup last month will also join the series including Abdul Samad, Haider Ali, Maaz Sadaqat, Mohammad Haris, Mohammad Imran Jnr, and Rohail Nazir. Meanwhile, Muhammad Imran, Sirajuddin, and Ubaid shah will join Pakistan Shaheens as debutants.
The practice session for red-ball cricket will start on November 6, while on November 8 Sri Lanka ‘A’ will arrive in Rawalpindi and continue their training sessions on November 9. The white-ball players are scheduled to be in Islamabad on November 22.
Additionally, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has declared the official squad for the series. Iqbal Sheikh and Bilal Khilji will supervise the Playing Control Team for the red and white-ball matches, respectively, with umpires Asif Yaqoob, Imran Jawed, Rashid Riaz, and Zulfiqar Jan sharing different authorities during the series.
