The 7th game of the T20 World Cup is slated between Netherlands and Nepal at Grand Prairie Stadium on 4th of June.
Netherlands and Nepal are placed in Group D and both of the teams will try to win this contest as to reach the next stage of the tournament they will have to fight against Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, and South Africa.
Team Overview:
Netherlands:
The Netherlands have the habit of upsetting the big times, religiously. In the 2022 T20 World Cup, they knocked out high-flying South Africa from the mega event, helping Pakistan to cement their place in the semi-finals.
The side will be high in confidence too as they beat Sri Lanka in a warm-up game by 20 odd runs. Moreover, Netherlands got the better of Nepal twice when they met earlier in a triangular tournament in Kirtipur.
So, Netherlands will be in good spirits ahead of the game.
Netherlands will be hoping that Michael Levitt continues his rich form. He made his debut this February. As of now he has plundered 349 runs in 8 T20Is so far at a strike rate of 156.50.
He scored 135 runs against Namibia, announcing his arrival in cricket in a style.
Moreover, Netherlands will be hoping that the skipper Scott Edwards step-up as his contributions would be necessary if the side want to start well in the tournament. And of course, the expectations will be higher from the seasoned campaigner, Logan Van Beek, who also featured in 2014, 2016, 2021, and 2022 T20 edition of the World Cup.
Nepal:
Nepal will be featuring in the second edition of the T20 World Cup and in that edition they ended up beating Afghanistan.
Nepal would be hoping Dipendra Singh Airee would smash the Netherlands bowlers out of the park.
Dipendra has been the highest run-scorer for the side and he is someone who can change the fortune of his side in no time.
And having no Sandeep Lamichhane might be daunting for the Nepal side. So, they will be looking up to Sagar Dhakal and Lalit Rajbanshi to hold the fort.
Head-to-Head:
Both of the sides have played 11 T20is so far in which Netherlands have won 6 and Nepal cleared the winning line in 5. So, neck-to-neck competition, a great game is expected today.
Pitch and weather report:
Dallas was the pitch where the World Cup had kickstarted with USA chasing down 196 against Canada.
A high-scoring game is expected but there are 20% chances of rain as well.
Predictions:
The Netherlands are strong contenders to win this competition and will expand their head-to-head reach.
