Pakistan Super League (PSL) franchises have announced their retained players for the upcoming edition of the league. The drafts of PSL-10 will take place on January 11.
All six franchises were allowed to retain eight players. Teams like Islamabad United, Lahore Qalandars, and Quetta Gladiators have maximized their eight retention while Multan Sultans, Peshawar Zalmi, and Karachi Kings retained seven players, respectively.
None of the trade has taken place between the teams so far.
Islamabad United:
The reigning champions of the league Islamabad United have let go of Faheem Ashraf and Alex Hales and retained the likes of Shadab Khan, Naseem Shah, and so on.
Retained players: Shadab Khan and Naseem Shah (both Platinum), Imad Wasim (mentor) and Azam Khan (Diamond), Salman Ali Agha (Brand Ambassador) and Haider Ali (Both Gold), Colin Munro and Rumman Raees (both Silver)
Notable released players: Faheem Ashraf, Alex Hales, Hunain Shah
Peshawar Zalmi:
Peshawar Zalmi has released Aamer Jamal for the forthcoming season of the PSL.
Retained players: Babar Azam, Saim Ayub (both Platinum), Mohammad Haris (Diamond), Arif Yaqoob, Mehran Mumtaz and Sufyan Moqim (Brand Ambassador) (all silver), Ali Raza (Emerging)
Notable released players: Tom Kohler-Cadmore, Luke Wood, Aamer Jamal, Salman Irshad
Multan Sultan:
Multan Sultans, the runners up of the last season, has released many of their core players including Khuhsdil Shah, Shahnawaz Dahan, and Abbas Afridi. Surprisingly they released Mohammad Ali as well who was on song in the last edition of the PSL.
Retained players: Mohammad Rizwan and Usama Mir (both Platinum), David Willey (mentor), Iftikhar Ahmed (Brand Ambassador) and Usman Khan (all Diamond), Chris Jordan (Gold), Faisal Akram (Silver)
Notable released players: Khushdil Shah, Mohammad Ali, Abbas Afridi, Ihsanullah, Reeza Hendricks, Shahnawaz Dahani
Lahore Qalandars:
Lahore Qalandars have let go of their highest run-scorer of the last season, Rassie Van Der Dussen. They have retained Zaman Khan and Haris Rauf as well.
Retained players: Shaheen Shah Afridi and Fakhar Zaman (both Platinum), Haris Rauf (Brand Ambassador) and Sikandar Raza (both Diamond), Abdullah Shafique, Jahandad Khan and Zaman Khan (all Gold), David Wiese (Silver)
Notable released players: Rassie van der Dussen, Kamran Ghulam
Karachi Kings:
Notably, Karachi Kings are one of only two teams that have opted not to retain any players from the Platinum category.
Meanwhile, Hasan Ali, Shan Masood, and Zahid Mehmood, who were previously demoted from their original categories, have been retained by the Kings in their revised categories for the upcoming tenth edition of the league.
Retained players: Hasan Ali and James Vince (both Diamond), Muhammad Irfan Khan and Shan Masood (both Gold), Arafat Minhas (Brand Ambassador), Tim Seifert and Zahid Mehmood (all Silver)
Notable released players: Mohammad Nawaz, Shoaib Malik, Mir Hamza, Kieron Pollard
Quetta Gladiators:
Quetta Gladiators have not retained Sarfarz Ahmed this time, their main player.
Retained players: Abrar Ahmed, Mohammad Amir (mentor) and Rilee Rossouw (all Diamond), Akeal Hosein, Saud Shakeel (Brand Ambassador) and Mohammad Wasim Jnr (all Gold), Khawaja Muhammad Nafay and Usman Tariq (Silver)
