West Indies and Pakistan will face each other in the 2nd ODI of the series on 10th August at Brian Lara Cricket Academy, Ground in Trinidad and Tobago.
Match Preview:
The second ODI will be played at Brian Lara Stadium. It’s a short turn-around between first and second games, and so it will be a test of strength for the two teams.
Pakistan will be in high spirits after beating West Indies in the first ODI, with brilliant knocks from debutant Hasan Nawaz and rookie Hussain Talat, who last played on ODI nearly six years ago. Mohammad Rizwan and Babar Azam were also able to build decent knocks, but couldn’t stay long enough to see the end of the chase.
After Pakistan’s bowling attack stopped West Indies at a low total of 280, thanks to a brilliant death bowling by Shaheen Shah Afridi and Naseem Shah, their openers started slow. Saim Ayub departed in the third over, while Abdullah Shafique, who looked in nice touch, couldn’t get past 30 runs.
After Babar and Rizwan, Salman Ali Agha and Faheem Ashraf also failed to bring down the asking rate. However, Nawaz and Talat were able to resist strongly against West Indies.
Talking about the West Indies, there were moments when they looked to be ahead of Pakistan, but they could not capitalize on the momentum.
The pacers were very expensive, and since they were playing four of them, they didn’t have any other options. Their batters were able to notch up three half-centuries, but regular fall of wickets forced them to settle for a low total.

It is generally anticipated that bowlers will have an advantage at Trinidad’s Brian Lara Stadium. With the new ball, the track will benefit pacers a little. In the meantime, the middle overs are another area where the spinners can affect the game. Expect a low-total game once again as the surface will be hard to bat on.
The toss-winning captain will look to bowl first, since dew helped the chasing team in the first ODI.
